Gillibrand in striking distance of SweeneySubmitted by Phil Giltner on September 6, 2006 - 9:08am.
Campaign releases new polling data showing Gillibrand within striking distance of SweeneyHudson NY - Today, Kirsten Gillibrand, the Democratic candidate in NY-20 released new polling data, with 39% of the vote, to Sweeney's 47%, Gillibrand is exactly where she needs to be two months before Election Day. Gillibrand is closing the gap with strong momentum; her favorability and familiarity ratings have more than doubled since the Global Strategy Group's last poll in May. Conversely, with less than 50% of the vote, Sweeney's unfavorable rating has increased to 32%, and 41% of voters want to replace him as their Congressman. "Kirsten has been covering the district with the positive message of New Ideas to bring Real Change and this has been resonating strongly with the voters," Gillibrand's spokesperson Allison Price said today. "It is obvious the more the voters get to know Kirsten, the more they want her to be their advocate in Washington." The poll was conducted by Global Strategy Group from August 29 -31, 2006 among 410 likely voters. Attached is a copy of the survey memo as well as the poll conducted by Global Strategy Group.
